January 17, 2011
I am excited to share that Geek Girl Con has announced the dates and location for this highly anticipated first-time event.
Geek Girl Con’s mission statement is:
GeekGirlCon is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting awareness of and celebrating the contribution and involvement of women in all aspects of the sciences, science fiction, comics, gaming, and related Geek culture through conventions and events that emphasize both the historic and ongoing contribution and influence of women in this culture. We are having our first annual convention in 2011.
The convention will be held Saturday and Sunday, October 8th and 9th, 2011, in the Northwest Rooms of the Seattle Center in Seattle, Washington. Passes are now on sale for $20 (one day) and $35 (two day).
The people that are working to put this event together are driven, intelligent, and (I can’t stress enough) fantastically awesome. The crew can be contacted through Facebook, Twitter, and the GeekGirlCon website. If you are a girl, a geek, live in the Pacific Northwest, or just want to check out a convention (that has been a long time in coming) check out Geek Girl Con!
